THE RACE BRIEFING:

WILL BE AT THE START LINE 15min BEFORE THE RACE START.

NEUTRAL ZONE AT MALGAS FERRY:

You will have 45 minutes to eat and cross the river.

Any time more than 45 spent in the Malagas Neutral zone will be added to your race time.

PLEASE NOTE:​

This route is Cyclo Cross/Gravel Bike Friendly.

Please come prepared for all weather conditions. It can be nice and sunny, but also rainy and muddy.

Also come prepared to ride 10 hours in the DARK from 9pm to 7am

ROUTE WILL NOT BE MARKED so you will have to LOAD maps on your GPS device and please make sure the battery will last for the duration of your ride!

ON ROUTE & WATERPOINTS:

5 x water points (of which 3 are official checkpoints) on route with water, energy drink and eats.

 

65km WP1 SOPHIA SAAL: 11 am – 2am

98km WP2 PROTEM1 Checkpoint 1: 12 am – 4 am Support Vehicle Point

158km WP3 QUARRY FARM: 2 am – 8 am

199km WP4 PROTEM2 Checkpoint 2: 4 am – 10 am Support Vehicle Point

Cut-off time at PROTEM2 will be at 10 am (avg speed of 14.5 km/h).

260km WP 5 MALGAS FERRY Checkpoint 3: 7 am – 3 pm Support Vehicle Point

CUT OFF 15h00 all riders at the ferry.

 

At Waterpoint 5 at Malagas (260km) you will enter a neutral zone for 45 minutes. Here you will be served with brunch at Malagas and you'll experience real Overberg hospitality. All other checkpoints will be included in your timing.

 

At all Checkpoints you will be able to meet your team support vehicle or support box. Teams without support vehicles can collect their support boxes at the 3 checkpoints. 

 

Support boxes to be handed in by 8 pm on Friday. (1 hour before start)

Support boxes to be collected from 8 am on Saturday and Sunday morning. 

Hamburger at the finish when you hand in your race number. 

 

Cut off time at the ferry (260km) 3pm avg speed 14.5km/h 

Finish Line cut-off will be at 21h00 Saturday evening. (24hours)

SUPPORT BOXES IF NO SUPPORT VEHICLE:

Support boxes need to be handed in by 8 pm on Friday evening 28 July 2023. 

Support Boxes will be at Checkpoints 1, 2 and 3 Protem1, Protem2 and Malgas Ferry

You will need to bring your own box. Support boxes do not have a size limit but please keep it to the minimum.

Your support box will be transported to checkpoints in case of no support vehicle.

SUPPORT VEHICLES:

Support vehicle can easily access Checkpoints 1, 2 and 3. Checkpoint 1 and 2 will be at the same venue.

Support vehicles MUST NOT drive the same routes as cyclists and must take the main roads to:
